Welcome, Anita!

Hello

I'm a reporter at the Mail Tribune. I've lived in the Rogue Valley for about eight years. I'm originally from Montana and have explored Southern Oregon Goldilocks-style since coming here after college. The coast was too wet, the Klamath Basin was too dry, but the Rogue Valley seems just right.

It's fun to see all the kitties. I've collected some of the pictures members of this group have shared in Roguecurrent.com's main photo collection in a Meow, Meow album. I still have to share a picture of my fat, orange cat here.

Here is a collection of videos of cats drinking water from Serious Eats, a food blog. I didn't know cats could drink in so many cute and amusing ways.

Jack in the Box is offering free grilled sandwiches -- a turkey, bacon cheddar or deli trio -- today with the purchase of a large soft drink. It's not exactly a free lunch, but it could suit a starving student's budget.

Friday Faves -- Roger Ebert and great writing

An Esquire profile of Roger Ebert attracted lots of attention on the Internet this week, and I want to join in sharing the link. While the profile is great, my Friday Fave admiration is for the subject himself.

I can't claim to be a long-time fan. In fact, back in the day, I was never really sure which one was Siskel and which one was Ebert. (In my defense, I grew up in a television-free home and never actually saw their sho… Continue

Friday Faves -- The Winter Olympics

Everybody loves Friday, but I'm
striving to share something else I love each Friday. Friday Faves will
feature things that I like and think that others might enjoy, too.

I introduced a bonus fave yesterday, but I strive to be a blogger of my word, so I'm adding another today. (See there is lots to like in this big, ole world.)

The whole world can love the Olympics, which start tonight in Vancouver. The opening ceremony should offer a daz… Continue

Does your sweetheart have a sweet tooth?

Great Harvest Bread Co. is baking a seasonal treat -- white chocolate cherry swirl bread -- this week.

While this ooey, gooey loaf of loveliness won't make great sandwiches, it does… Continue

Friday Faves -- Dagoba Drinking Chocolate

Everybody loves Friday, but I'm striving to share something else I love each Friday. Friday Faves will feature things that I like and think that others might enjoy, too.

A friend once told me my tastes weren't just eclectic, but downright eccentric. I can't say she was wrong. It's just that there's so much interesting stuff out there in that big ole world. And I get excited about showing others the shiny pebbles that I find, so that's what I'm do… Continue

Yeah, I would love to hear about what you like to craft! I need some people in my group, so you and anyone you know who does needlework, should join!

Hi Anita
Thanks for asking about the little cockatiel. No, I can't take the credit for making it. It's a picture I found on the internet. I have shared my home with cockatiels since 1985 so it does represent a part of my personality. Thanks for asking.
I'm very new to RogueCurrent and am still learning how it works.

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. I will look into the Rogue Valley contest. I have some images that I think depict the Rogue Valley quite nicely. Thanks for letting me know, Anita. Shannon

Wow, Anita, your comments were a wonderful surprise and are much appreciated. I certainly had a great time taking pictures at the market. Everyone was so nice. I asked the vendors if I could take pictures of their beautiful produce displays and they were all so accomodating and nice. Great experience!

Hi. Yes, Louise is my wife and Creek House Patisserie is her business. Unfortunately, she is very strict and I'm not allowed to eat many of her chocolates or pastries, so I envy you :).
