If you think you know who might win at the Oscars and you would like to win a $50 gift card to Tinseltown or any Cinemark theater, enter the Mail Tribune's movie awards contest at www.mailtribune.com/oscars.

If you're a fan of the Golden Age of the Silver Screen, check out a new group on roguecurrent.com, Classic Film Fanatics. It's a place to discuss classic films and their stars.

The list of box office leaders gave me a very similar response. I liked "Slumdog Millionaire" and found "Coraline" beautiful and mesmerizing.

I'll also admit to being willing to watch "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" once it's released on Netflix (Kevin James is pretty funny.), and might even see "Watchmen" under similar circumstances. The rest of that list makes me want to run away.

Now I have to go look at the list of movies you posted in the discussion area, Mr. Thorp. I was only familiar with a few of those movies, but many of them looked intriguing.

What a list! Is the summer kiddie season upon us already? Have seen only "Slumdog" on the list...I enjoyed it but doubt that it will make it onto my list of 100 best films of the year.
I admit to being somewhat taken by "TAKEN", but the trailer was the entire movie I suspect. Might be fun to see Neeson shoot all the French guys.
Okay, I'll come clean: I want to see "Mall Cop". At home. Alone.
Thank the gods for Netflix and foreign movies.
And, there are books!
Life is good.
